In short. Purchases are final. We do not refund a change of mind. The only refunds are ones the law where you live requires, which for most countries means none at all, and for some means a set number of days to withdraw. Paddle, our payment partner and the seller of every purchase, is the one who applies these rules and sends back any refund.
1. Who handles refunds
Every purchase on Aetherboard is sold by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle takes the payment, sends the receipt, handles the sales tax or VAT, and applies the rules on this page. This page goes with section 5 of our Terms of Service, which agrees with it.
2. Purchases are final
A membership charge and a purchase of digital content are both final once made. We do not refund a change of mind, whether that is a membership you no longer want or content you decided against, in the United States or anywhere else. The only refunds are the ones set out below.
3. Where the law requires a refund
In some countries, the law gives a buyer a set number of days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content or a subscription, no reason needed:
- The European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Turkey and Israel: 14 days.
- South Korea, Brazil, Canada and China: 7 days.
- Singapore: 5 days.
That right ends once you have started using what you bought, which you agree to when you pay: everything on Aetherboard is available the moment payment goes through, so using it starts as soon as you sign in and see it.
In the United States, no law gives a general right like this for what Aetherboard sells, so a purchase there is final from the moment it is made. If a specific law where you live requires a refund we have not named here, that law wins over this page. Paddle works out which of these applies from where you are, and applies it.
4. Memberships
A membership is billed for a period, a month or a year. Once a period is charged it is final, unless section 3 above gives you a right to withdraw.
Stopping costs nothing and takes one button. Turn automatic renewal off in the shop or in your profile, at any time. It stops the next payment and nothing else: your membership carries on until the end of the period you have paid for, then your account goes back to the free tier. Nothing you have made is deleted.
Changing plan is not a refund. Moving up charges the difference for the rest of the period you are in, with the time you already paid for credited against it. Moving down charges nothing and takes effect at your next renewal. The exact amount is shown before you confirm, and you are never charged more than that.
5. Game systems and other digital content
Content you buy is unlocked in your account as soon as the payment goes through. That purchase is final, unless section 3 above gives you a right to withdraw.
If you buy several things in one payment, each is treated on its own. A refund the law requires is for the item it concerns, and a right to withdraw ends for an item once you have started using that item.
6. Pre-orders
Pre-orders are not open yet. When they are, the release date is shown before you pay. If we miss it, that is something you paid for and never received, not a change of mind, so we tell you and refund it in full if you would rather not wait, however long that takes.
7. If something went wrong
This is not a refund under this policy: it is us not keeping money we should not have taken. Charged twice, charged after you turned automatic renewal off, or charged for something that never reached your account: tell us and we fix it, whenever you notice.
8. How to ask
- Use the link in the receipt email Paddle sent you, or go to paddle.net and look up your purchase with the email address you paid with.
- Or email [email protected] with that email address and roughly when you paid. A person reads every message.
An approved refund goes back to the card or account you paid with. Paddle aims to send it within 14 days of approving it, and your bank may take a few more days to show it.
